Eligibility for Internship:

  • The MEA Headquarters Internship is for Indian citizens, including OCI card holders and foreign nationals.
  • Interns may work on-site (within the Ministry’s premises) or off-site, but off-site is not available in Missions/Posts.
  • For on-site internships, candidates should have a Graduate degree or equivalent before starting.
  • Students in a five-year course can apply after completing three years by January 24, 2024.
  • For off-site internships, undergraduates from any stream are eligible.
  • Preference is given to those with an excellent academic record and research scholars.

Duration of Internship:

The internship can start anytime and lasts for 1 to 6 months.

Application date:

Apply at least one month before the intended internship start date.

Support to be Provided:

  • Interns may work on-site (within the Ministry) or off-site.
  • On-site interns will get logistical support as needed.
  • No payment is given to interns.
  • The internship is not a job or a promise of employment with the Ministry.

Apply process:

  • For the MEA Headquarters internship, send applications to the Joint Secretary (Administration) via registered/speed post or email.
  • Include necessary documents, like a filled application form, proof of identity, curriculum vitae, introduction letter from the institution, and certificates.
  • Applications should reach at least one month before the internship starts.
  • Embassy of India, Bahrain internship applications can be sent to the Head of Chancery via post and email.
  • Include a filled application form, proof of identity, curriculum vitae, introduction letter, and necessary certificates.
  • Both applications should have proof of identity, a CV, an institution letter, a no objection certificate, and self-attested certificates/transcripts.

Selection Process:

  • A Selection Committee at the Ministry will review all applications.
  • Selected candidates will be notified and may undergo a personal interaction and document verification.
  • The Selection Committee’s decision is final, and no queries will be entertained afterwards.
  • The Ministry will engage up to thirty on-site interns and two interns may be engaged by Missions/Posts abroad.
  • The Ministry/Mission/Post can terminate an intern’s engagement at any time without providing a reason. The intern can also choose to leave the program by giving one week’s notice.

For MEA Headquarters Internship:

  • Fill out the application form.
  • Provide three identity proofs, including a passport and Aadhar card (or OCI-related documents).
  • Attach your CV, an institution introduction letter, and a no-objection certificate from your university.
  • Include self-attested certificates and transcripts for educational achievements.

For Internship at Indian Missions/Posts:

  • Complete the application form.
  • Submit three identity proofs, including a passport and proof of residence.
  • Attach your CV, an institution introduction letter, and a no-objection certificate from your university.
  • Include self-attested certificates and transcripts for educational achievements.
